EMS 2001

Each year, the French Air Force organizes the Enseignements Militaire Superieure exhibition at 2 locations: BA 123 Orleans and BA 120 Cazaux. The aim is of this exhibition to demonstrate the capabilities of the French Air Force. For CFAP (Transport Command) at Orleans and for CFAC (Fighter Command) at Cazaux. In 2001 it was held for the 11th time on September 19 and 20. Some 400 invitees form all the worlds Air Forces were invited for this 2 day event.

EMS 2001 Orleans 20010919

At BA 123 Orleans-Bricy the main concepts of the French Air Force Transport Command (CFAP) were displayed at the Static Show. Due to heavy rain the flying demonstrations of these concepts were cancelled.

The demonstrated concepts on the ground consisted of:

  1. Air to air refeulling
  2. Ground refeulling of a fighter with a C-160
  3. Delivery of cargo by parachute
  4. Delivery of cargo by unloading a transport aircraft
  6. AWACS
  7. Protection of an airbase

EMS 2001 Cazaux 20010920

The second day of the exhibition at Cazaux had the fortune of good weather. No clouds, only sun and some 24 degrees Celsius.

The main concepts of the French Air Force Fighter Command (CFAC) were shown at the Static Show and demonstrated in the afternoon at the range.
The demonstrated concepts on the ground consisted of:

  1. Pre-, post-strike reconnaissance and ELINT
  2. SAM suppression
  3. Fighter protection
  4. Close Air Support
  5. Nuclear Strike

Besides the French Air Force, the Air Forces from Spain, Belgium, Italy and the UK were present at Cazaux. Wherebey the Itialian, Belgium ans Spanish aircraft participated in the aftrenoon demonstration.
